A New Way to Publish (from the Substack App)
On Thursday, On Substack officially announced that we can all publish newsletters directly from the app now. They also posted a quote of mine and a link back to my profile, so “Hello!” to the two of you who actually clicked that link. 😉
I expect there are still a few features that will be included later, like buttons that remind you to share, comment and subscribe to this newsletter.
Honestly, I’m just happy I can post from my phone rather than the computer (or cursing at Safari on iOS.)
House/Yard
My week has been filled with the usual joys of being a homeowner. I have been told we now need to install an exhaust fan in our bathroom AND replace the sink and toilet. I wanted to wait a few years and do this as part of a full bathroom renovation, but I feel it will save us a lot of headaches in the future.
I also had to spend the week getting quotes to have this poplar pruned. The prices have ranged from $725-$3000. Regardless of who I pick, I need to tear down a rotting fence before the work can be done, because there is no other way to access that tree!
Did I mention I wanted to make some art this week? 😩
Time is such a precious commodity lately. It’s almost impossible to do everything I need to do in a day.
SDCC
Like many of you, I am not at San Diego Comic Con (and likely never will be due to my contempt for large groups of people in confined environments.) Still, it has found it’s way to me through newsletters and YouTube videos. I swear that Hasbro spends half their marketing budget every year trying to find ways to drain my back account.
Thanks to Skybound and their Energon Universe, I have rediscovered my love for the Transformers and G.I. Joe properties (these are the only comics I am keeping up with these days.) If they announce that they’re going to start re-releasing the old o-ring G.I. Joes, my bank account may be in trouble.
I mean, they seem to have some plans for more o-ring figures that target that 1980s nostalgia with their Ghostbusters pre-order:
It’s hard not to be tempted to add these to the display case. Still, I have to remind myself, I have a house/yard that needs upkeep and children that enjoy food and new clothes. Things like this are nice to have, but not the slightest bit necessary.
Project: Spiderweb 🕸️
Over a year ago I started working on four different stories. I didn’t realize it at the time, but two days ago I was kicking myself for not finishing any of them, but as I was going over them things just sort of clicked: They are all connected. They all take place in the same fictional town, some in different eras. One was written as a novella, the other three were written as comics. They all work as stand alone stories, but elements seem to cross and connect like threads in a spider’s web, so that’s what lead me give it the working title Project: Spiderweb 🕸️.
Everything I previously wrote needs to be revised and I need to write up a new outline to reflect this. Then I have to decide if I want to draw this or just write it as a novel. I’m kinda hoping it rains all weekend so I will have the time to work on it.
Evergreen Comic Content
This is an OLD one from a few years ago before our cat passed away. This was a morning ritual for the better part of 15 years.

That’s all for this week. I’m sure I’ll be back with another update next week, where I will tell you how I spent all my money on the Hasbro Pulse website.
